An exciting Director opportunity for someone wanting to lead and shape a department.

Your new school: Lift Winton is a popular secondary school with fantastic facilities and a great reputation within the local community. With that said, we continue to be ambitious and want to become the best school in Hampshire. The school has recently appointed a new Principal, Myles Preston, who brings with him over ten years of experience in both teaching and leadership roles. Myles is passionate about the prospect of working with and leading a fantastic community of likeminded staff who understand the potential that an excellent education has in unlocking doors for young people and who are dedicated to joining a school on a rapid journey of improvement. If you are ambitious, energetic and have a 'get stuck in' attitude, this could be the role for you. We are in the process of building a vision and a set of values and want to hear from people who are excited about the prospect of working with us to ensure our school is a high performing school in terms of outcomes, but one which places community and care at the forefront of all that we do.

Lift Winton is part of Lift Schools, a large MAT made up of 59 schools who offer staff some of the best training and career opportunities with access to tailored development, including executive coaching, bespoke training from external agencies, networking days with guest speakers, access to NPQ courses and much more. As a school, we always look 'outwards' and are keen to work with individuals who seek to build networks with other professionals across our community and develop best practice for the development of our school. It's an exciting time to join and be part of our journey, the school maintained a 'Good' grade in the latest visit by Ofsted in 2023. We pride ourselves on a culture of high support and high expectations, and we have excellent relationships with families and the community who work closely with us to ensure every child receives an excellent education.

Your new role: The Maths Department has a current team of seven, ranging from recently qualified to very experienced teachers. What we are looking for is somebody who can lead and shape the department, and turn us into the best Maths Department in Hampshire. This is a rare opportunity to have both freedom and support to ensure that the curriculum is ambitious, broad and engaging. As a Trust we have an ambitious 490 strategy, we want 90% of our GCSE pupils to be scoring grade 4 or above in English and Maths and we need you to help drive this success.

What you'll need to succeed: We are looking for a qualified maths teacher who has a proven track record of driving and improving results. You will be an approachable but accountable leader who can manage subject leaders and teachers within the faculty to raise and maintain the highest standards of progress, attainment, teaching and learning. You will be highly ambitious for our students, our team, and for raising standards across your department.

We offer you:

  • Comprehensive training: Access to some of the best developmental training to boost your career.
  • Generous benefits: From your pension plan to healthcare and financial support, we've got you covered.
  • Lifestyle perks: Enjoy discounted gym memberships, travel deals, and even electric vehicle incentives.

Please don't wait until the closing date to apply as we will review applications and interview as we receive them. If you would like a confidential discussion before applying and/or a tour of the school please contact us. We reserve the right to close this vacancy early should we receive an overwhelming response. All candidates are advised to refer to the job description and person specification before making an application.

Lift Schools are committed to ensuring the highest levels of safeguarding and promoting the welfare of our pupils, and we expect all our people and volunteers to share this commitment. We adopt a fair and consistent recruitment process which is in line with Keeping Children Safe in Education guidance. This includes online checks for shortlisted candidates. All offers of employment are subject to an Enhanced DBS check, references, and where applicable, a prohibition from teaching check.
