Are you an experienced English language professional with a Cambridge DELTA qualification and a passion for assessment excellence? UKCE is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented DELTA Qualified Examiner to join our Academic Team in our sister college, UKCBC. This exciting role offers the opportunity to contribute to the delivery and assessment of high-quality English language examinations while supporting students in achieving their academic and professional goals.

Job Purpose

To deliver, assess, and administer English language examinations in accordance with awarding body regulations and internal quality standards. The postholder will conduct speaking examinations, assess written examinations, invigilate computer-based assessments, and ensure accurate and timely recording of examination results.

Key Responsibilities

  • Examination Delivery and Assessment
    • Conduct and assess speaking examinations according to approved assessment criteria and procedures.
    • Assess written examination papers accurately, fairly, and consistently.
    • Ensure all assessments are completed within specified deadlines.
    • Maintain the confidentiality, integrity, and security of examination materials and candidate information.
  • Examination Administration
    • Upload examination results accurately onto the designated examination management system.
    • Verify assessment data and ensure records are complete and accurate.
    • Assist in maintaining examination documentation and records in line with organisational and awarding body requirements.
  • Invigilation
    • Invigilate computer-based examinations and ensure compliance with examination regulations.
    • Monitor candidates during examinations and report any irregularities or breaches of examination procedures.
    • Ensure examination venues are prepared appropriately and that all technical and administrative requirements are met.
  • Quality Assurance
    • Apply assessment criteria consistently and participate in standardisation activities where required.
    • Support internal and external quality assurance processes.
    • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of examination procedures, regulations, and best practice in English language assessment.
  • Other Responsibilities
    • Work collaboratively with academic and professional services colleagues.
    • Ensure compliance with all UKCBC policies and procedures, including those relating to academic quality, data protection, safeguarding, and information security.
    • Maintain full compliance with health and safety requirements, taking reasonable care for personal safety and the safety of others, and supporting a safe and secure working and learning environment.
    • Actively support and promote equality, diversity and inclusion, ensuring fair, respectful and inclusive practice in all aspects of work.

    • Deliver against agreed annual performance targets and key performance indicators, with performance actively monitored, measured and benchmarked against institutional standards and sector expectations.

Person Specifications

Essential criteria

  • Cambridge DELTA (Diploma in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages).
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification.
  • TEFL, TESOL, or CELTA qualification.
  • Minimum of two years' experience teaching English as a Second Language (ESL/EFL).
  • Experience teaching IELTS preparation courses.
  • Experience assessing learners' English language proficiency.
  • Experience working within an examination or assessment environment.
  • Experience using online systems and databases to record and manage assessment outcomes.
  • Excellent understanding of English language teaching methodologies and assessment practices.
  • Strong spoken and written English language skills, demonstrating native-level proficiency.
  • Ability to apply assessment criteria accurately and consistently.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Good IT skills, including the use of examination management systems and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
