Join to apply for the Senior Hot Cell Technologist role at UK Atomic Energy Authority as part of our Materials Research Facility (MRF), focusing on the operation of hot cells and management of irradiated materials. Responsibilities
- Oversee operation and maintenance of hot cells ensuring compliance and timely execution
- Act as stakeholder for all hot‑cell related projects
- Lead technical resolution of complex requirements and mitigate risks
- Write, review, and manage key technical documentation: safety, process, technical specifications, procurement procedures
- Ensure operations team is trained, competent, and appropriately delegated
Qualifications
- Engineering‑related degree or equivalent experience within a high‑hazard industry
- Experience handling radioactive materials, remote operations/manipulators in hot cells, and waste processing
- Awareness of, and experience working within, a Technical Management System
- Ability to work effectively with customers, scientists, and multidisciplinary teams
- Proven ability to manage and direct third‑party maintenance activities
Additional Information
- £56,596 (inclusive of Specialist Allowance)
- Final salary defined benefit scheme with equivalent of 21.5% employer pension contribution
- 25 days annual leave, plus 3 days Christmas closure, 2.5 privilege day, and 8 Bank holidays
