Job Description
As Programme and Socio‐Economic Analyst, you will play a key role in demonstrating the value and impact of UKAEA's programmes and investments. Working within the Executive Office, you will lead analytical projects that inform strategic decision‐making, support future funding bids, and provide robust evidence of the economic and societal benefits generated by fusion research and innovation. This is a highly visible role, requiring close collaboration with senior leaders across UKAEA, government departments and external partners.
What You'll Be Doing
- Lead the appraisal, evaluation and benefits realisation of major UKAEA programmes and investments.
- Design and deliver economic, quantitative and qualitative analysis to support business cases, value‐for‐money assessments and strategic decision‐making.
- Develop methodologies and evidence frameworks to measure the socio‐economic impact of fusion research and innovation.
- Implement and continuously improve UKAEA's monitoring and evaluation framework across programmes and projects.
- Commission and manage external research and evaluation activities to strengthen the organisational evidence base.
- Produce high‐quality analytical reports, insights and recommendations for senior leaders, government stakeholders and funding bodies.
- Support future Spending Review submissions through robust analysis and evidence gathering.
- Embed analytical best practice across UKAEA, providing guidance and training aligned to HM Treasury Green Book and Magenta Book principles.
- Build strong relationships with internal technical experts and external stakeholders, including government departments, research councils and delivery partners.
- Line manage and develop junior analytical staff while contributing to the growth of analytical capability across the wider organisation.
Qualifications
- Degree in Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, Social Science or a related analytical discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
- Demonstrable experience delivering economic, statistical, social or operational research, including contributions to business cases and value‐for‐money assessments.
- Strong understanding of UK Government analytical frameworks, including the HM Treasury Green Book and Aqua Book.
- Proven ability to design, deliver and interpret high‐quality analysis using complex data to inform strategic decisions and investment priorities.
- Experience leading analytical programmes and teams, managing stakeholders, and delivering across multiple projects and competing priorities.
- Excellent communication and delivery skills, including presenting complex findings to senior audiences.
