Company Description: The UK Government has established UK Industrial Fusion Solutions (UKIFS) Ltd, a subsidiary of UK Atomic Energy Authority (UKAEA), to lead the charge in delivering fusion energy through design and delivery of the Spherical Tokamak for Energy Production (STEP) prototype fusion plant. UKIFS is establishing itself, setting up the company, attracting talent, engaging with industry, developing a supply chain, and planning and constructing of the STEP prototype. Fusion energy, crucial for combating climate change and ensuring energy independence, is expected to be commercially viable by mid-century. The UK, led by UKIFS, aims for a prototype fusion plant, targeting first operations around 2040. UK Industrial Fusion Solutions Ltd. will lead delivery, collaborating with industrial partners and building a fusion supply chain with an estimated global sector value of £7tn per year.

This position is to be based at West Burton, Nottinghamshire. Onsite working is expected for 3 days each week.

We’re looking for a Creative Content Officer to help bring our stories, ideas and ambitions to life. This is a hands-on, delivery-focused role where you’ll turn communications plans into engaging digital experiences and creative content. Working closely with Communications Managers, specialists and project teams, you’ll take ownership of projects from concept through to delivery, creating content that is clear, accessible and impactful. You’ll use your creativity, curiosity and technical skills to continually improve how we communicate, finding new ways to connect with audiences and making complex ideas simple, engaging and meaningful. This is an exciting opportunity to shape how we show up digitally and creatively, while developing your skills in a supportive, collaborative environment.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Design and deliver engaging content for websites, campaigns, social media, events and internal platforms.
  • Turn complex or technical information into clear, accessible and audience-focused content.
  • Bring our brand to life by applying visual identity, tone of voice and design standards consistently.
  • Work collaboratively to deliver content aligned to briefs and communications plans.

Accountability 2: Enhance digital platforms & user experience

  • Support the development and continuous improvement of websites and digital platforms.
  • Apply UX/UI best practice to create intuitive, inclusive and user-friendly experiences.
  • Build and manage content in CMS platforms (e.g. WordPress), using existing templates and tools.
  • Test, update and refine content to ensure performance, accessibility and compliance.

  • Play an active role in delivering creative and digital projects on time and to a high standard.
  • Work closely with colleagues, stakeholders and external partners to bring ideas to life.
  • Share updates on progress, risks and opportunities, helping keep projects on track.

  • Use your knowledge of digital tools, creative software and web technologies to deliver high-quality outputs.
  • Follow best practices for coding, documentation, security and digital governance.

Qualifications:

  • Degree qualification with additional demonstrable experience of leading on key projects.
  • Experience of communications within a complex, matrixed, programmatic environment.
  • Experience with graphic design tools (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite) and video editing software and the ability to produce high quality output.
  • Proficiency with content management systems (CMS), social media platforms, and analytics tools.
  • Proven relationship builder with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Excellent communication skills – both written and verbal.
  • Ability to act as an external ambassador for the programme.
  • Strategic, creative and innovative thinker.
  • Ability to translate complex technical information into simple, understandable and engaging content.
  • The ability to work autonomously, manage your own time, and juggle a range of projects effectively.
  • Qualifications related to digital content creation, graphic design or videography (or a portfolio that can demonstrate an equivalent ability).

Beneficial:

  • Awareness of SEO, website performance and basic web security principles.
  • Experience working with external suppliers or agencies.
  • Relevant qualification or demonstrable training in digital content, UX/UI, design or communications.
  • CIPR qualified (or equivalent).
  • Experience of coaching and training others, including designing training protocols.
