Are you looking for an exciting opportunity to make a difference? Join our team and contribute to the future of fusion energy. As Exhaust Code Developer, you will play a pivotal role in developing edge modelling code(s) which interface with integrated modelling tools, such as JINTRAC integrated transport modelling framework. Through integrated modelling, the post holder may study plasma exhaust in existing and future tokamaks, such as JET, MAST-U, ITER, JT-60SA, and STEP. You will also propose, and/or integrate improved models through internal and international collaborations and execute, and analyse tokamak experiments in these areas.
Key Responsibilities:
- Contributing to and guiding the development of edge modelling codes.
- Optimising code algorithms for modern computers (HPC).
- Developing interface with plasma core codes and working with UKAEA developers.
- Performing core-edge coupled simulations and analysing the results.
- Giving presentations to demonstrate new algorithms and features to modellers at UKAEA.
- Exploiting tools for edge modelling and/or coupled core-edge simulations to study plasmas in current and future devices.
- Reporting research findings in refereed journal articles as well as at internal meetings, workshops and international conferences.
Essential Requirements:
- PhD in plasma physics or equivalent.
- Knowledge of and/or experience of implementing software engineering best practices.
- Proven ability to conduct independent research.
- The post-holder must be a good team-player with an outward facing work-ethos as he/she will work closely with scientists around the world.
