We are looking for an experienced Senior Network Design Engineer to help create ideas for new products or services and drawing up plans for a new design. Taking ideas from the initial design stage through to the production and/or installations process. Drawing up detailed technical plans for ideas and concepts. Using mathematical and scientific skills to create workable, real-world solutions to problems. Selecting the appropriate materials for a new product or a new construction. Calculating an accurate cost analysis forecast for a project. Completing the required technical and regulatory documents may be required to ensure quality-control tests on a new product/system and overseeing its construction/manufacture, development and deployment.
Key Deliverables
- Lead network designs for DDaT, and take ownership delivering scope of work documentation, schema outline designs, topology diagrams, detailed Infrastructure designs, bill of materials, physical & logical design schematics and node configurations.
- Be responsible for the accuracy and correctness of designs undertaken by assigned network engineers and assist and train team members where needed.
- Develop technical specifications, network architecture documentation and other relevant documentation.
- Undertake network and application configuration.
- Manage the devices, system and integration testing.
- Provide support on applications, reports and interfaces.
- Liaise with vendors where necessary and apply or oversee relevant updates and patches.
- Monitor performance and efficiency of the network and instigate modifications and improvements where necessary.
- Provide advice to end users on how to operate the network.
- Resolve technical queries.
- Provide network training as required.
- Test new product releases and upgrades.
- Create and maintain the system documentation.
Responsibilities
- To work within a customer facing project team to deliver and support network application solutions for business transition, transformation and business as usual activities.
- To create the technical requirements documentation based on business process requirements.
- To support the product/application selection and architecture development processes.
- To manage 3rd party suppliers including technical liaison, technical compliance, inter-dependencies between suppliers, testing, scoping of support contracts and transfer into operations.
- End to end responsibility for the specification, design, configuration and deployment of the solutions, including all documentation, statements of work, process maps, handbooks, user guides, training and successful transfer into operations.
- To ensure that the solutions include the requirements of other in scope deliverable areas and that the solutions are fully integrated with the other deliverable areas.
- To develop a strong understanding of the application portfolio used within the operational environment.
- To provide out of hours support as required for application faults.
Qualifications / Skill Requirements
- HND/BEng Degree level of education, or equivalent experience.
- Holds the relevant specified/designated Licences/certifications for the discipline/business sector.
- Computer literate, competent with MS Office suite, Word, Excel, etc.
- Working knowledge of the quality standards and processes and regulatory requirements applicable to the designated discipline/business area.
- Competent all-round verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong collaborative working skills across teams and stakeholders.
- Capable of managing tasks effectively in an autonomous environment.
- Customer focused and able to deal with internal and external stakeholders.
- A passion for solving problems and providing workable solutions.
- Strong analytical and reasoning skills with an ability to visualise processes and outcomes.
- Able to successfully undergo Security Clearance vetting as required.
Desirable
- Experienced in TENE designs and familiar with DDaT design processes and tools.
- Experience in delivering designs in a Critical National Infrastructure environment.
- Familiar with the Construction Design and Management (CDM) regulations.
- Aware of BIM processes for successful Integrated Project Delivery.
- Familiar with AutoCAD/MicroStation and other CAD specified software.
