About the role

We have exciting opportunities for Electrotechnical Self-employed Assessors covering various locations across the UK. You will undertake periodic assessments across all customers registered under various electrotechnical schemes to assess their work, resources and ensure they follow the rules and technical requirements relating to scheme membership. You will be expected to work independently following instructions and guidance contained in procedural manuals.

What you’ll be doing

  • Undertaking daily/weekly programmed visits, to be centrally scheduled by a member of our administration team
  • Conducting assessments of customers/members ensuring they are compliant to the competent person scheme rules.
  • Undertaking assessments of applicants for registration and conducting assessment visits in other geographical areas, as needed
  • Making recommendations concerning approval, continued registration, deferment or rejection and completing all documentation required by the appropriate procedures
  • Preparing and completing comprehensive assessment reports with specific attention to detail.
  • Delivering all assessment documentation on time
  • Building relationships with customers whilst providing an excellent customer service
  • Assisting in the training of newly appointed Assessors, as requested
  • Complying with the requirements of our Health and Safety Policy
  • Undertaking any other duties as appropriate within your competence
  • Attending regular team meetings
  • Attending training courses and continued professional development.

What we’re looking for

Essential

  • High level of technical competence over a wide range of electrical installations
  • Detailed knowledge of BS 7671 and related codes of practice
  • Excellent report writing, numeracy, and IT skills, in particular Microsoft Office
  • Personable and communication skills with the ability to build excellent relationships at all levels.
  • Excellent customer service skills can recognise the customers needs and strives to deliver the best level of customer service.
  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to prioritise workload and meet strict deadlines.
  • Full driving licence
  • Full flexibility and the ability to work out of area when needed.

Desirable

  • Knowledge of accreditation criteria
  • Corporate membership of the IET/CIBSE
  • HNC in engineering or equivalent
  • Vocational Assessor qualifications
  • Adult Teaching qualifications
