Job Summary:
We are seeking a weekend cook to prepare and serve meals. You will follow set menus designed to provide a diverse and nutritious diet for our residents. In this role, you will ensure residents enjoy a balanced and varied diet throughout their stay at Oasis Bradford.
Main duties of the Cook:
- To prepare menus as agreed with the Centre Manager. There will be a choice of options, including vegetarian.
- To ensure that religious and cultural dietary needs are catered for.
- To ensure that these meals are prepared in nutritious, appealing, and wholesome way.
- To respond to requests for special therapeutic diets when advised by health care and dietetic staff, including adequate provision of calcium and vitamin D.
- To ensure that clients properly set and clear tables.
- To ensure that clients wash up and tidy as part of their therapeutic responsibilities.
- To maintain a high standard of cleanliness in the kitchen.
- To conduct all procedures within the kitchen with due regard to the food hygiene, Health and Safety legislation, Emergency and Fire procedures.
- To promptly report any faulty appliances, damaged equipment, or any potential hazard to the Centre Manager, Cook, Maintenance person and person in charge.
- To adhere to all centre policies and procedures within the defined timescales.
- To be familiar with the required care standards and regulations governing your job
- To work individually and within a team to meet a standard commensurate with aims and objectives of the centre and in consideration of its residents.
- Observe and maintain high levels of communication within the teams of staff, individual colleagues, and residents.
- To carry out any additional duties as requested.
- To undertake any additional training and development programmes the Centre may consider appropriate to enhance your contribution to the Centre.
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a chef.
- Level 2 Food Hygiene
- Ability to prepare nutritious, well-balanced meals, including catering to specific dietary needs such as religious, cultural, and therapeutic diets.
- Knowledge of food hygiene, Health and Safety regulations, and kitchen safety procedures.
- Strong organisational skills to plan menus and prepare meals efficiently.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Effective communication skills to interact with staff, clients, and residents.
- Flexibility to adapt menus based on dietary advice and requests.
- Ability to report issues such as faulty equipment or potential hazards promptly.
- Willingness to participate in training and development programs as required.
