We are seeking an experienced and commercially driven Head of Pricing & Commercial Optimisation to lead the development and execution of our pricing strategy across all customer channels, product categories, and business units. This is a pivotal leadership role responsible for driving profitable growth, enhancing pricing governance, improving commercial decision-making, and ensuring our pricing capability evolves to support future business growth, including significant eCommerce expansion. The successful candidate will combine strategic thinking with strong analytical capability, using data, market intelligence and commercial insight to optimise pricing performance, improve profitability and strengthen our competitive position. This role requires a proactive leader who can identify opportunities, challenge existing practices and deliver practical, commercially focused solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Pricing Strategy & Commercial Leadership
- Develop and implement the company’s pricing strategy aligned with commercial objectives.
- Lead the evolution of pricing methodologies, structures and governance frameworks.
- Ensure pricing remains competitive whilst delivering sustainable margin growth.
- Identify opportunities to improve profitability through pricing optimisation and customer segmentation.
- Support senior leadership in strategic commercial decision‑making.
- Act as the business lead for all pricing‑related initiatives and transformation projects.
- Provide commercial insight to support business growth plans.
- Margin Optimisation & Profitability Management
- Own pricing performance and margin delivery across prescribed channels.
- Monitor gross margin trends and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Analyse profitability by customer, product group, supplier, category and sales channel.
- Develop and implement initiatives to improve commercial returns.
- Ensure pricing decisions balance competitiveness with profitability.

- Oversee customer pricing frameworks and governance processes.
- Ensure customer pricing structures support long‑term profitable growth.
- Support key account pricing strategies and commercial negotiations.

- Review customer‑level profitability and recommend corrective actions where appropriate.
- eCommerce & Digital Pricing
- Develop pricing strategies to support continued eCommerce growth.
- Ensure online pricing remains competitive and commercially sustainable.
- Lead competitor pricing analysis and market monitoring activities.
- Identify opportunities for dynamic pricing and pricing automation.
- Work closely with eCommerce teams to maximise digital conversion and profitability.
- Ensure alignment between branch, national account and digital pricing strategies.
- Pricing Governance & Operations
- Establish robust pricing governance and compliance processes.
- Oversee pricing implementation, maintenance and operational controls.
- Drive continuous improvement in pricing processes and workflows.
- Ensure pricing structures remain scalable and fit for future business requirements.
- Lead pricing system development and enhancement projects.
- Commercial Analytics & Insight
- Develop meaningful pricing and profitability reporting frameworks.
- Ensure our reporting platforms efficiently display performance metrics that support decision‑making.
- Analyse market trends, competitor activity and customer behaviour.
- Use data and analytics to identify opportunities and risks.
- Leadership & Team Development
