Our client are market leaders in the design and supply of Hosiery, Underwear & Loungewear to global retailers and brands. They have a passion for great product design and a reputation for taking trends, along with the latest technologies and developing product portfolios to match a brand or retailer’s core customer base. They now have an exciting opportunity for a talented Product Designer to take responsibility for creating commercial product ranges from initial concept through to design.
The Role:
- Reporting to the Design Manager and the Product Development Director, you will be responsible for the development and growth of brands and products ensuring they are in keeping with brand guidelines.
- Delivering a product offer to exceed customers, brands’ and business expectations.
- Keeping up to date with emerging fashion trends in product, fabric, colours, packaging, technologies relating to fabrics, colours and shapes.
- Research, produce & present trend and design boards for seasons and brands to the business and clients.
- Including sourcing of new products, ideas and elevating existing SKUs.
- To be the business’ champion of assigned brands and products.
- To plan, design and develop ranges from given briefs, clients and/or License Holders to produce approved designs to meet requirements.
- To be involved in the development of new packaging to ensure fits and key marketing matches the product.
- To understand design from a technical perspective, i.e. be responsible for producing patterns and technical specifications for designs to meet commercial and the supplier’s production requirements.
- Working alongside the Technical Team to review PP samples and to attend Critical Path meetings to support the business on the progress of any design feedback.
- To work with the Sales team to prepare presentations and samples for Customer meetings.
- On occasions, you will need to attend customer meetings to present season ranges/new products & developments.
- To manage development sampling to meet critical paths for key business development and customer meeting dates.
- You are responsible for communicating approvals/comments in time to match customer key dates.
- To manage and catalogue samples ensuring you maintain an orderly system that is organised to support the business.
The Candidate:
- You must have at least 6 years of Design experience in similar product categories.
- Confident in the use of Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.
- A strong time manager who is self-motivated and can run their client accounts in an organised manner and autonomously.
- An excellent communicator at all levels and a good team player.
- Happy to embrace new technology, especially AI.
