Our client is a leading textiles manufacturer supplying fabric, wallcoverings and trimmings to brands within the luxury interior design market. They pride themselves on their original designs and exquisite fabrics, working with prestigious interior design brands across the UK, USA and Europe. With heritage dating back to the late 18th century, their bespoke fabrics and products are designed in our London studio and manufactured at their factory in India. They are looking for an innovative and commercial designer to join their team, designing for luxury interior textiles.
The Role:
- Create original artwork for textiles and wallpaper outcomes including print, weave and embroidery, considering target customers, as well as bring innovative and revolutionary ideas with confidence to regular design meetings.
- Develop innovative qualities with suppliers in line with yearly targets.
- Research trends, qualities and colours.
- Research and create mood/trend/colour boards, to regularly present to marketing teams and directors.
- Generate detailed technical packs for our factories, considering textile qualities and price points.
- Confidently adapt existing designs from the archive including changes to colour, scale or quality to suit the requirements of the client.
- Liaise with factories and Marketing Managers daily to manage critical paths.
- Travel to India to work with the team to bring collections to life.
- Manage multiple client accounts in the UK, EU and USA, often working on collections with clients from start to finish.
- Accompany marketing team to customer visits, to show collections and discuss design briefs.
- Check colours and quality for client development samples and production.
- Present our collection in Lake Como once a year alongside the rest of the design team.
The Candidate:
- Passionate about textiles and interiors and wants to grow their career with a leading manufacturer in the luxury interiors market.
- At least 3 years' experience in a similar role or Junior Designer role.
- Good knowledge of AVA is essential as well as excellent Photoshop skills.
- Some experience of wallpaper and wall textiles.
- Ability to hand paint original designs.
- Excellent knowledge of textile processes - weave, print and embroidery.
- A textile degree in either woven or printed textiles.
- Someone who is eager to travel, including within the UK, Europe, India and America.
- Ability to thrive in a very fast paced studio environment.
- A multi-tasker, who can adapt to high work loads and ability to take initiative and make decisions both independently and as part of a team.
- A flexible attitude to ensure that time sensitive tasks are completed on time to meet the needs of clients as well as critical paths.
- Someone who has exciting and innovative ideas to push our fabric qualities and designs to elevate Parry Murray in the high-end textile design market.
- Full knowledge Microsoft suite (Outlook, Excel, Teams and Powerpoint etc).
