Purpose of the job: Based in our prestigious London office, close to Tower Bridge, UHY is looking to recruit a Credit Controller, where you will be responsible for managing your own ledger and supporting the effective collection of outstanding debts across the firm. Building on a solid understanding of accounts receivable processes, aged debt reporting and credit risk, the role combines technical expertise with relationship management skills to ensure prompt and professional credit control.
Working with limited supervision, you will communicate effectively with clients and colleagues, identifying and escalating risks, and actively participate in workstreams that add value to the credit control function. You are expected to uphold UHY’s values, develop knowledge of service lines and key contacts, and act as a role model for junior members of the team.
As part of your ongoing professional development, we will support you in undertaking CICM study and other training as directed, if required. You will also mentor junior colleagues, provide guidance, and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement and high-quality service.
UHY can offer flexible hybrid working including a 35 hour working week and after a settling in period our hybrid policy is 3 days in the office and 2 from home.
Key tasks and responsibilities:
- Proactively manage customer accounts to ensure timely payments, supporting the company’s cash flow and financial health.
- Chase overdue debts professionally and negotiate payment plans to maintain strong customer relationships.
- Produce regular reports on aged debt, cash flow, and payment trends to inform management decisions.
- Resolve billing queries quickly and efficiently, ensuring a positive experience for customers.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and relevant legal regulations.
- Continuously identify and implement improvements to credit control processes, driving efficiency and effectiveness.
- Regular meetings with your portfolio managers, these meetings are to be held at the office location. Some travel will be expected.
Person specifications – Desirable experience and skills:
- Essential: GCSEs (or equivalent) including Maths and English at Grade 5 (C) or above. Proven numeracy skills, and experience using Microsoft Excel/Office and accounting or ERP systems.
- Desirable: CICM Level 3 Diploma in Credit & Collections (or actively studying). Demonstrable experience of managing ledgers, credit risk and client relationships within a finance or credit control environment.
