Main duties of the job

Are you a Waste auditor who thrives on performing detailed assessments of waste generation and disposal practices within an organisation? Can you analyse waste streams to identify types, volumes, and contamination levels, providing a clear picture of current waste management practices?

Job responsibilities

  • Complete waste audits (including healthcare waste) within various locations in SGH and PAH using a mobile device/laptop.
  • Ensure audits are completed within agreed timescales.
  • Requirement to communicate with staff at various levels, including matrons, ward staff and contractors.
  • Auditing health care waste across the trust.
  • Use a VDU to complete waste audits and create audit result reports.
  • Provide operational support to colleagues if required, as directed by the Line Manager.
  • Attend any meetings relevant to the role.
  • Participate in the induction of new staff within the team, sharing knowledge and expertise of the administrative processes and functions.
  • Be proficient in the use of all electronic systems in relation to the role and undertake training as required if new technology/systems are introduced, to ensure competencies are maintained.
  • Efficiencies of the administrative processes are maximised.
  • Following policy/procedure/guidelines.

Qualifications, knowledge and experience

Essential

  • NVQ3 level qualification or equivalent skills / experience
  • Knowledge of, or willing to work towards conducting audits
  • Knowledge of current issues within healthcare waste service
  • Experience of monitoring services
  • Experience of working in the NHS or health and social care
  • Experience in or willing to work towards gaining knowledge on relevant waste qualifications food hygiene guidelines
  • Ability to work well within a team
  • Flexibility with working pattern
  • Able to question practice appropriately

  • Microsoft office skills
  • Experience of working as an auditor
  • Demonstrate ability to work without direct supervision

  • Able to prioritise and delegate appropriately
