Main duties of the job: An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our rapidly developing and innovative podiatry team. In this role, you will be responsible for delivering a high-quality, accessible and timely evidence-based service for patients. You will be responsible for the provision of care to the increased/high-risk caseload. You will need to be an excellent communicator and able to work independently and confidently. We will consider newly qualified podiatrists in a developmental role (annex 21). Our primary focus is to deliver quality, patient-centred care which is evidence-based and sustainable for the future in an ever-changing NHS landscape. We have a strong commitment to staff development and service improvement and provide regular clinical supervision and in-service training.
Working for our organisation: We operate from three main hospitals - Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community health care premises. All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, day case and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.

Person specification:
- Education and qualifications: Degree or equivalent in qualification in Podiatric Medicine, Local anaesthesia certificate, HCPC certificate, Certificate in Radiology.
- Experience: Post-graduate NHS work experience, including experience treating high-risk patients, Teaching/training of colleagues/students/health care professionals/patients/public, Accurate assessment, testing and diagnosis of complex foot pathologies.
- Skills, ability and knowledge: Knowledge of high-risk patient care (assessment, diagnosis and treatment/management), Be able to manage and treat high-risk patients, Knowledge of ulcer and wound dressings, off-loading and Doppler ultrasound interpretation, Understanding of medical conditions and patho-physiology.
- Personal Qualities: Must be able to travel to meet the needs of the service, Flexibility and commitment to the job, Good interpersonal skills, Approachable, Enthusiastic positive attitude.
