The Rheumatology service across Morecambe Bay offers an exciting substantive Band 7 Clinical Nurse Specialist role covering 24.5 hours per week. The successful candidate will work flexibly across our services supporting our other sites.
Main duties
- Support the Rheumatology service across the Morecambe Bay region.
- Demonstrate proven leadership and management experience, or capability to manage an independent workload.
- Run their own nurse‑led clinic, either face‑to‑face or remotely.
- Triage patient and professional concerns via telephone or email, using the Rheumatology answer line.
- Participate in professional development opportunities, such as obtaining the non‑medical prescribing qualification.

Our services are delivered through three main hospitals – Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal – as well as community health facilities across Morecambe Bay.
Person specification – Education and Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year at Band 6 level.
- A registered nurse (UK NMC).
- Post‑registration clinical course or qualification in a specialist area that has enhanced clinical practice.
- Evidence of ongoing professional development.
- Previous experience within a Rheumatology service.
