We wish to appoint a Consultant Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon, with an interest in General Oral, Maxillofacial Surgery and Trauma, with a subspecialty interest in Skin Cancer management. You will undertake clinical commitments across Bay at the three sites and take part in the consultant on call rota. The post holder will develop a subspecialty interest to complement those of the existing consultants.
Main duties of the job
- You will participate in a general consultant on call rota, with a commitment to undertake a weekend morning trauma list during your on‑call weekend. The on‑call rota is 1:4 when this vacancy is filled.
- Close working relationships will be established with ENT colleagues in the MDT Head and Neck cancer service and Clinical Nurse Specialists linked to the Regional Head and Neck Cancer Centre at Royal Preston Hospital (Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust).
Working for our organisation
We operate from three main hospitals: Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as community healthcare premises including Millom Hospital, GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre. FGH and the RLI provide full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and consultant-led services. WGH offers an Urgent Treatment Centre for non‑life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses. All three hospitals provide planned care, including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, daycase and inpatient surgery, plus local outreach services and diagnostics from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.
