Job overview
Millom Hospital is a community based unit providing rehabilitation and End of life care to the local population. It also provides a pathway for step downs from the acute hospital to support the transition for patients to return back home along with step ups from the community where patients require non acute care.
A vacancy has become available at Millom community hospital working on our 9 bedded in-patient unit for a Band 6 staff clinical lead to join our team working on the in-patient unit . This is a 37.5 hr permanent position working alongside other healthcare professionals.
The unit runs a internal shift pattern of early shifts, late shifts and nightshifts including weekends. This is a 24 hr service.
The successful candidate will be responsible for taking charge of the shift, supporting health care workers and students.
There is a expectation the the post holder will deliver clinical skills and direct patient care to a high standard ensuring all cares are delivered in a professional, kind and caring manner maintaining patient and colleague safety at all times.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be responsible for effectively managing evidence based nursing care to patients using a systemic approach of assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating to ensure a high standard of care.
The post holder will provide clinical and management support to other staff and students; they will be responsible for work allocation and checking tasks and supporting less experienced staff.
The post holder will deputise for the department manager, ensuring effective delivery of care is maintained.

Working for our organisation
We operatefrom three main hospitals-Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community healthcare premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, andUlverstonCommunity Health Centre.
FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services.
WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.
All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies,daycase and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.
Our Community Service for adults are provided in people's homes ,community centres, clinics, GP Practices, community hospitals. Our aim is to work with people to help them remain independent , improve their health and manage their conditions through high quality care , advice and support.
