The HR Business Partner – SchoolCloud will serve as the primary HR partner for assigned schools, ensuring seamless HR support tailored to the unique needs of educational institutions. This role involves client relationship management, compliance oversight, talent management support, benefits guidance, and employee relations expertise.
What You'll Do
- Client Management & HR Support: Serve as the primary HR contact for school operations leadership and administrators, providing guidance on HR policies, compliance, and employee relations. Address and resolve escalated client inquiries related to payroll, benefits, and HR policies. Collaborate with internal departments to facilitate timely client resolutions. Support school operations teams in implementing HR policies, including Employee Handbooks and compliance training. Guide school leaders in executing strategic HR objectives, such as performance management, compensation planning, role definition, talent acquisition, and training. Assist schools in the annual return process and pre-service preparations to ensure a smooth transition into each academic year. Ensure compliance with federal and state-specific education labour laws. Partner with school networks, governing boards, and finance teams to align HR policies with operational and compliance needs. Assist school employees in accessing HR tools and resources on the Client Portal as needed. Escalate complex matters to the Senior Director of School Product or VP of HR as appropriate. Travel to school sites periodically to provide in-person HR support, training, and consultation as needed.
- Talent & Performance Management: Partner with school operations leadership to provide strategic guidance and best practices for talent management. Support schools in refining recruitment strategies, including role definition and workforce planning. Assist school leaders in job description development, goal setting, and performance review processes. Advise schools on employee retention strategies, including work-life balance initiatives and professional development programs. Enable school operations teams to leverage tools for effective performance evaluations and professional development.
- Employee Relations & Compliance: Educate school operations leaders and administrators on best practices for managing employee complaints, performance issues, and workplace investigations. Provide guidance on handling employee relations matters, including corrective action, performance improvement plans, and terminations. Conduct and document investigations as necessary, delivering fact-based findings to the school while maintaining compliance with policies and legal requirements. Ensure schools remain compliant with employment laws. Support schools in managing HR-related changes, such as leadership transitions, policy updates, and workforce restructuring. Stay updated on employment regulations that impact educational organizations and provide proactive guidance.
- Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate documentation of client interactions and HR cases within Salesforce. Document and track investigations, reductions in force (RIFs), and other sensitive HR matters. Utilize HR systems to support operational efficiency. Lead HR change management efforts during school transitions, policy shifts, and organizational restructuring.
- Leadership & Subject Matter Expertise: Serve as an HR subject matter expert, providing guidance to internal teams and school operations leadership. Support process improvements to enhance HR service delivery for schools.
What You Bring
- Education & Certifications: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field required. PHR, SHRM-CP, or SPHR certification preferred.
- Experience & Skills: Minimum of 4 years of experience in an HR Manager role. Strong understanding of employment law fundamentals and HR best practices. Experience working with school operations leadership and administrators is a plus. Ability to proactively identify and resolve employee relations issues. Experience delivering HR training and conducting presentations. Strong verbal and written communication skills with an ability to consult and negotiate. Ability to work independently in a remote setting while managing multiple priorities. High ethical standards, problem-solving orientation, and a client-service mindset.
