UHI Perth is one of Scotland’s leading Colleges of Further and Higher Education, and a large partner in Scotland’s newest University, the University of the Highlands and Islands. We are seeking to recruit a Lecturer with experience in either electrical installation or power distribution to join our successful construction team. This is an exciting opportunity for a qualified electrician to share their industry expertise and help develop the skilled workforce of the future.
The campus is well resourced to deliver a first-class learning experience, with a well-balanced mix of classrooms and practical skills training workshops. Within your specialisation, you will be responsible for preparing learning, teaching and assessment materials, as well as delivering both theoretical and practical sessions and supervising student work. You will also contribute to the development of the Built Environment, Construction Crafts and Building Services curricula.
You should be appropriately qualified, ideally holding a relevant certificate in Electrical Installation or Power Distribution, with an apprenticeship or qualifications at SVQ Level 3, PDA/SCQF level 7 or an equivalent time-served qualification. Further training will be provided for the successful candidate where required. Previous teaching experience is not essential for candidates with appropriate industrial experience.
In addition to the above, you should be a well-motivated self-starter with good communication skills, and the ability to work effectively as part of a team. A strong customer focus and an awareness of high standards is required in the relevant trade industry. You should also demonstrate the passion and drive to be an effective and innovative contributor to the continued success of the department.
This post undertakes regulated work with children and a Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme check is required. A check will be made against the list of those barred from working with children.
