Job overview

Due to the continued growth of our service, we are seeking enthusiastic and experienced Accredited Clinical Coders (ACC) to join our expanding Clinical Coding Team.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering a high-quality clinical coding service across the Trust, ensuring accurate and timely clinical coding in line with national standards, guidelines and reporting requirements.

You will have:

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with confidence in your coding abilities

A proactive approach to maintaining high standards of coding accuracy and data quality

A sound knowledge of anatomy, physiology and medical terminology

The ability to manage a varied workload effectively in a busy environment and consistently meet deadlines

Applicants will be required to provide evidence of attendance at an accredited Clinical Coding Standards Course and, where applicable, a Clinical Coding Refresher Course.

  • Demonstrate in depth knowledge of the importance of coding and it's uses

Experience & Knowledge

  • Demonstrable clinical coding experience in a similar acute setting.
  • Knowledge of the importance of clinical coding and its uses and an understanding of data quality issues.
  • Awareness of the impact of clinically coded data on Healthcare Resource Group ( HRG) allocation
  • Experience of coding a wide range of specialties.
  • Wide understanding of NHS funding arrangements.
