Job overview

Are you interested in a career in Pharmacy? Are you innovative and forward thinking? This may be the position you’re looking for.

We are looking for someone to become a member of our Senior Pharmacy Assistant Team, where you will provide support in delivering a high quality service to all Pharmacy customers.

This position would suit someone with a keen eye for detail and who is able to communicate effectively with a wide range of people, including other healthcare professionals and members of the public. You will be a good team player, enthusiastic and proactive with the ability to remain calm under pressure.

Main duties of the job

Working in the pharmacy at Queens Hospital, Burton -

  • Labelling and dispensing inpatient and outpatient prescriptions and discharge medication.
  • Meeting and greeting customers/staff/patients at the reception hatch, accepting outpatient prescriptions and taking prescription charges.
  • Completing ward top ups and expiry dating.
  • You will be required to complete a GPhC-approved Level 2 Pharmacy course.

Qualifications and Training

  • GCSE grade 4 or equivalent in Maths and English or proven equivalent level of experience and knowledge within the same or similar role
  • GPhC approved Level 2 qualification in Pharmacy Services or willingness to work towards

Knowledge

  • Proven experience of working in a customer facing role, ideally within an NHS setting
  • Ability to use automated / electronic systems
  • Knowledge of pharmacy services
  • Demonstrates willingness to undertake relevant training pertinent to role
  • Previous experience of working in a Hospital pharmacy dispensary department
