We are seeking an experienced Quality, Health, Safety & Environment (QHSE) Manager to join our manufacturing and distribution operation. This is a pivotal role focused on reducing the cost of quality, driving right-first-time performance, and embedding a strong culture of continuous improvement, safety, and compliance across the business. The QHSE Manager will develop, implement and maintain robust Quality, Health & Safety and Environmental management systems, ensuring compliance with legislation, standards, and customer requirements, while maintaining focus on strategic priorities amid day-to-day operational demands.
Key Responsibilities
- Quality Management
- Develop, implement and maintain the QMS in line with ISO 9001 and customer requirements
- Lead internal, external, customer and certification audits
- Manage non-conformances, root cause analysis, and CAPA
- Deliver improvement projects to reduce defects, waste and rework
- Ensure product and process quality across manufacturing and distribution
- Oversee Supplier Quality Assurance, including audits and corrective actions
- Health & Safety
- Develop and maintain the Health & Safety Management System
- Conduct risk assessments, accident and incident investigations
- Ensure compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements
- Lead safety training, toolbox talks and awareness programmes
- Promote a proactive safety culture and high standards of housekeeping
- Environmental Management
- Develop and maintain the Environmental Management System (ISO 14001 where applicable)
- Ensure compliance with environmental legislation
- Drive initiatives to reduce environmental impact, waste and energy usage
- Compliance, Training & Reporting
- Maintain all QHSE documentation, procedures and records
- Monitor changes in legislation and standards
- Deliver QHSE training across the organisation
- Track, analyse and report key QHSE KPIs
- Produce monthly reports on compliance, performance and improvement activity
- Leadership & Engagement
- Coach and support managers and supervisors in QHSE responsibilities
- Lead by example, promoting company values and operational excellence
- Work cross-functionally with Operations, Procurement, HR and senior leadership
Essential Criteria
- Degree (or equivalent experience) in Quality, Engineering, Technical, Business or similar
- 5-8 years experience in a Quality / QHSE leadership role within manufacturing or FMCG
- Strong experience with ISO 9001 and quality audit management
- Proven ability to deliver continuous improvement and exceed business targets
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and influencing skills
- Strong problem-solving, data analysis and IT skills
- Self-driven, resilient and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
Desirable
- NEBOSH or formal Health & Safety qualification
- ISO 14001 experience
- Lean / Continuous Improvement experience
