Salary on appointment will be £38,784 per annum, with an annual increment up to £46,049 per annum.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Research Associate to join the School of Computing Sciences to undertake research on Physics-Aware Agentic AI Systems for 3D Reconstruction and Generation.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will contribute to an innovative project funded by the Royal Society and delivered in collaboration with the University of Tokyo. The project focuses on developing advanced agentic AI pipelines for urban-scale 3D intelligence, spanning sensing, reconstruction, understanding, and generation. You will conduct high-quality independent research leading to publications in top computer graphics and computer vision venues such as SIGGRAPH, CVPR, and ICCV. You will also have opportunities to contribute to research grant applications and may be involved in the supervision of PhD students within the School.

Qualifications

You will hold a PhD in a relevant discipline such as Computer Graphics, 3D Vision, Artificial Intelligence, or a closely related field. You will have a strong track record of independent research, including publications in internationally recognised venues such as SIGGRAPH, CVPR, NeurIPS, or similar. You should demonstrate excellent technical expertise in areas directly relevant to the project, alongside strong interpersonal, organisational, and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative research team. Experience of supervising students, mentoring junior researchers, or contributing to research leadership activities would be advantageous.

This full-time post is available on a fixed-term basis for 1 year from 27 August 2026.
