An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Civic and Public Affairs Administrator to provide support to these important areas of work for the university. The Civic and Public Affairs Administrator will work closely with the Associate Pro-Vice-Chancellor Civic, the Civic Executive Officer, and the Head of Public Affairs to provide flexible and high-quality administrative support.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing diaries
  • Organising meetings and events
  • Preparing reports and documents
  • Monitoring financial processes
  • Maintaining oversight of stakeholder engagement activities
  • Acting as a first point of contact for internal and external stakeholders, including academics, parliamentary staff, and regional organisations

You should be educated to A-C standard with five GCSEs at grades A-C (including English and Mathematics) or have equivalent qualifications or experience. Recent administrative experience, strong organisational skills, confidence with IT systems and financial processes, and excellent written and verbal communication skills are all essential. Experience of event organisation, supporting projects, and taking minutes at senior meetings is also required. Familiarity with procurement and CRM systems, experience in higher education, business or local government, and some understanding of politics or the civic university agenda would be advantageous.

This full-time post is available from 14 October 2026 on a fixed-term basis for 2 years. UEA offers a variety of flexible working options and although this role is advertised on a full-time basis, we encourage applications from individuals who would prefer a flexible working pattern including annualised hours, compressed working hours, part time, job share, term-time only and/or hybrid working. Details of preferred hours should be stated in the personal statement and will be discussed further at interview.
