Are you interested in being part of our busy catering department at the University of East Anglia Sportspark in Norwich? We are seeking an enthusiastic, creative and experienced Chef to join our large and busy catering department within the University. Your primary location will be the Sportscafe kitchen with opportunities to support other areas, including street food, fine dining, production and patisserie.

Working with the Head Chef, you will be required to prepare and serve food for our outlets, events and hospitality. Included in your duties you will be managing stock, following recipes for each dish to ensure consistency, minimising waste and maintaining a clean and hygienic working environment which meets high standards. This rare opportunity in our trade offers limited evenings and weekends and the benefit of not being required to undertake split shifts.

This post is based in the UEA Campus Kitchen, University of East Anglia, Norwich, Norfolk, UK. The vacancy is not eligible for VISA sponsorship, and you will need to hold or be able to obtain the right to work in the UK to undertake this role.

Is this role for me? You will be hands‑on in food production, maintaining the standards our customers have come to expect. You’ll also:

  • Order stock, accepting deliveries and stock rotation.
  • Have a desire to input menu suggestions.
  • Enjoy working and maintaining a clean and tidy kitchen.
  • Have a calm approach to getting the job done.
  • Have a desire to support the wider team in all areas of the business.

Equivalent chef experience or NVQ level 2 in a catering discipline or equivalent qualification is vital. If you meet all the essential requirements of the person specification, it would be great to hear from you!

This role is available immediately on an indefinite basis working either full-time (5 days per week, 40 hours) or part-time (4 days per week, 32 hours) including early mornings, evenings and weekends. The successful candidate may choose between the above full or part-time options.
