About the Role of Works Delivery Manager
The purpose of this role is to manage existing contracts while supporting the growth of the business.
- Take ownership of the health and safety performance of all contracts delivered from the depot
- Drive productivity and support the Operations Manager with profit and loss responsibility
- Grow the business by securing repeat work, identifying new opportunities and engaging directly with potential customers
Success in this role relies on your ability to build strong, effective relationships quickly with both customers and colleagues.
Key Responsibilities of a Works Delivery Manager
This is a key role within the Thatcham and Winchester depot. The Works Delivery Manager will be expected to oversee all contracts delivered by the depot, gain and understand Chevron’s corporate systems and work with the wider team to ensure all work is delivered safely to the contract requirements and in line with industry best practice. The successful candidate will be helping to deliver the contract financial performance (P&L) reporting directly to the Operations Manager. They will learn and understand the local TM marketplace and how their team can take advantage of upcoming opportunities with both existing and new clients.
Health and Safety Responsibilities
- Driving the Chevron safety culture
- Ensuring the operatives dispatched to undertake each work order are suitably trained, competent and physically fit
- Ensuring the operatives are mentally capable of delivering the works safely
- Periodically visiting works on site to ensure they are being delivered safely and in accordance with the company’s safe working procedures
- Briefing depot-based staff on current safety alerts, campaigns, toolbox talks and contract methodology, ensuring correct delivery and understanding
- Ensuring that company procedures relating to H&S and HR are followed
Productivity and Profit & Loss Responsibilities
- Maximising depot productivity by overseeing the programming of schemes and managing work allocations to TM crews
- Managing and controlling contract expenditure/costs
- Reviewing and managing plant and vehicle expenditure
- Understanding and managing the ongoing commercial position of each contract
Business Growth Responsibilities
- Ensure excellent delivery and customer service on all works delivered by the depot to maximise the opportunity for repeat business
- Foster working relationships with existing clients to identify new working opportunities both within the East Midlands and further afield
- Proactively seek out new opportunities within the region, building relationships with new potential customers and seeking new business opportunities
Must-Haves
- Traffic management or highways experience
- Knowledge of the East Midlands highways and utilities market
- Basic commercial understanding
- Confidence with Microsoft Office and business systems
- Open to digital innovation
- Strong networking and relationship-building skills
- Clear, confident communicator and presenter
- Team player in a fast-paced environment
- Self-driven with the ability to generate your own leads
- IOSH/SSSTS/SMSTS (or equivalent)
- Full UK driving licence
- UK right to work
