General hours of work are Monday to Friday, between the hours of 8am to 6pm with flexibility.

About Chevron Traffic Management

Chevron Traffic Management sets up temporary road or lane closures, diversions, routes or pedestrian walkways to keep road workers and road users safe while roadworks are underway. This involves putting out road cones, signage, temporary traffic lights, pedestrian crossings, and barriers. Our work is visible all over the country. The company also consults, plans, designs, estimates and liaises with suppliers and customers to ensure that our schemes are fit for purpose. We use innovation and technology to improve safety and help our industry reduce its carbon footprint.

About The Role Of Operations Manager

This is a high profile and critical role within our business. You will oversee all regional activities, including expanding our client base and delivering and developing the business. You will penetrate new markets, increase business growth with both new and existing customers, forge new relationships with potential customers and maintain robust relationships with current customers to secure repeat business.

Whilst motivating and leading your team, you will deliver an effective and efficient first‑class service. You will ensure your workforce is trained and equipped with the relevant skills to meet demands. You will also ensure effective and prompt communication of toolbox talks, safety alerts and other contractual methodology.

Working collaboratively with colleagues across the group, you will implement best practice and solutions to maximise profitability and add sustainable value.

Embedding management procedures and controls, you will drive productivity and will be accountable for achieving the contract’s financial targets. This will include regular liaison with the commercial and finance team and review of cost and commercial reports.

Health and Safety is a priority. Being accountable for all depot ESG activities, you will ensure all works adhere to safe working procedures and that all Health, Safety, Quality and Environmental policies are implemented.

About You

We are looking for a highly motivated and confident individual. Whilst knowledge of the Traffic Management industry is beneficial, we welcome applications from candidates with an Operations, Logistics or Planning background. An excellent communicator and team worker, with experience of successfully identifying and pursuing new business leads.

Adaptable and flexible, you work well in ever‑changing situations and fast‑paced environments. You thrive by establishing dynamic working relationships with suppliers, customers and colleagues, forging relationships built on trust and delivery.

What Good Looks Like For An Operations Manager

  • Full UK Driving Licence
  • Experience in the Traffic Management, Construction, Utilities or similar industry
  • Experience leading a team within an operational environment
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong influencing and negotiation skills, and the ability to build strong working relationships and network with sector stakeholders
  • Numeracy skills to manage budgets and bid costings
  • Pragmatic and able to create solutions that meet business needs
  • Collaborative in approach
  • Proficient in the use of a PC, Microsoft Office software and ability to work with other business management systems and remote technology
  • Local knowledge of the region’s construction and maintenance market, particularly National Highways, local authority highway maintenance and utilities highways works

We Would Also Appreciate It If You Have

  • TTME
  • Lantra Sector Scheme qualifications (beneficial)
  • IOSH Managing Safely/SSSTS/SMSTS or equivalent
  • Other formal commercial or business management qualifications
