Location: Stunning state of the art office in Birmingham with onsite amenities including a Gym, Nursery, Café and Coffee Shop. As part of your apprenticeship, you will also be required to attend South & City Birmingham College 1 day per week.

Salary: Starting at £15,000 per annum, increasing after 12 months of service.

About the Role of Apprentice CAD Designer:

This is a full time and permanent position. In this role you will gain a Level 4 Apprenticeship standard, Civil Engineering qualification and will work with the design team to develop your skills and knowledge.

Typical day-to-day responsibilities include:

  • Developing an understanding of the sector through observation and working closely with your mentor
  • Producing and designing scaled and schematic temporary traffic management drawings
  • Assisting with design modifications to facilitate operations
  • Ensuring all temporary traffic management drawings are in accordance with guidelines
  • Ensuring all paperwork is up to date
  • Maintaining CAD models, drawings and associated files
  • Working with Lead Designers to improve skills in BricsCAD and maintain a high standard of presentation
  • Receiving continual Health & Safety and Lantra approved training to develop knowledge and experience in temporary traffic management
  • Completing all training associated with the apprenticeship

You are organised, hard working and want to learn and forge a career for yourself. You work well under pressure and are able to work to deadlines. Reliability and going the extra mile are valued.

Essential Attributes for an Apprentice CAD Designer:

  • Suitable Level 3 qualification where required and GCSE Maths and English grade C/4 or above or equivalent
  • Driving license or taking driving lessons – road knowledge/awareness is paramount and you will be required to travel as part of your placement
  • Excellent IT skills
  • Excellent level of written and spoken English
  • Interest in AutoCAD or similar packages
  • Excellent communication skills in dealing with clients and colleagues
  • High level of accuracy
  • Analytical skills

  • Able to generate ideas and put them into practice
