The Role
As a Yard Operative, you will play a vital role in supporting our operational teams by ensuring equipment is prepared, maintained and available for use when needed. You will help keep the yard organised, safe and efficient while supporting the day‑to‑day running of our traffic management operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain a clean, safe and tidy yard environment.
- Load and unload traffic management equipment as required.
- Prepare, inspect and organise equipment ready for operational use.
- Assist with stock control and inventory management.
- Clean and carry out basic maintenance of signs, cones, barriers and vehicles.
- Support drivers and operatives with equipment requirements.
- Move Variable Message Signs (VMS) and position notice boards when required.
- Identify and report damaged equipment, defects or maintenance issues.
- Follow all company health, safety and environmental procedures.
What We’re Looking For
Essential
- Strong work ethic and reliable timekeeping.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Physically fit and able to carry out manual handling duties.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- Right to work in the UK without sponsorship.
Desirable
- Previous experience in a yard, warehouse or traffic management environment.
- Forklift Licence (training can be provided).
- B+E Trailer Licence.
