Due to staff development within our team, we have an exciting opening for a Band 6 Senior Staff Nurse to join our highly skilled and knowledgeable SACT outpatients team. Service covers units at the Royal Berkshire Hospital, Bracknell Healthspace and West Berkshire Community Hospital, Thatcham. Working Monday‑Friday; 08:30‑18:30. About the Role

We are looking for an experienced nurse with recent SACT administration history. You should be skilled in venepuncture, cannulation, and proficient in using CVADs. You should have completed an accredited SACT course/UKONS passport or equivalent. We encourage ongoing professional development; many of our Band 6 nurses progress to Masters in Advanced Clinical Practice. The successful applicant will lead services with a caring, patient‑centred approach, work independently and as part of a team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide integrated clinical leadership to a team of nurses within outpatient SACT, caring for patients with cancer to the highest standard and developing practice with support of the SACT unit manager.
  • Work as a skilled practitioner, responsible for delivery of patient‑focused programmes of care addressing complex and changing needs of the client group.
  • When required, manage the SACT unit on a day‑to‑day basis, reporting to the SACT unit manager.
  • Assume responsibility for operational management of staff and resources, ensuring a safe environment; in absence of the unit manager, lead a specific aspect of ward management.
  • Act as an expert in SACT delivery and patient assessment relevant to this patient group.

Essential

  • Registered Adult Nurse (Pt 1/2)
  • Completion of UKONS SACT passport or equivalent
  • Experience of SACT administration
  • Experience of Leadership/Management and Specialty Development
  • Post‑qualification Oncology/Haematology experience
  • Experience of mentoring, facilitating, teaching, assessing and/or coaching

  • Advanced Communications Course
  • Post‑graduate cancer qualification
  • ILS
  • Experience of involvement in successful Change Management
  • Experience of working on a SACT outpatient unit
