Are you an experienced, professional Radiographer with a commitment to high class patient care and the drive to work within a high performing team? If so, we invite you to join our friendly and dynamic Radiology Department at the Royal Berkshire Hospital. Due to the expansion of the service, we currently have vacancies for a number of enthusiastic Band 6 Radiographers to work in our CT department. Experience in this modality is desirable, but not essential, as training will be provided.
The successful candidate must have at least 2 years experience in radiography post‑qualification with at least 12 months of working within the NHS. Applicants must be adaptable and prepared to work evenings and weekends as part of our seven‑day service delivery, including night shifts. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are essential, as is the ability to work both autonomously and as part of a team environment. The candidate must be registered with the HCPC.
Our Radiology department is busy, carrying out a wide range of general and specialist examinations, including plain film, CT, MRI and interventional procedures. We have recently been awarded the title “University Department of Radiology” for our involvement in research and education through the University of Reading. As a progressive teaching department for radiographers, we have established links to universities and actively encourage CPD and role extension, with support available to pursue academic courses and develop your career within a supportive and friendly environment.
The main duties of the job include:
- Provide high quality diagnostic imaging services across the CT suite, including both patient care and image interpretation.
- Support the development of services to our community, making full use of the newly refurbished CT scanners.
- Work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends and night shifts, to meet the needs of a seven‑day service.
Person Specification – Essential
- Degree or equivalent in Diagnostic Radiography.
- State registration with the HCPC.
- Evidence of significant continuous professional development (CPD).
- Minimum of 18 months recent, proven experience post registration.
- Experience working as an integral part of a successful team.
- Broad knowledge of pathology and physiology relevant to cross‑sectional imaging.
- Experience communicating with multidisciplinary teams.
- Experience supervising student radiographers, newly qualified and newly appointed staff.

- Cannulation experience.
