We are an innovative, dynamic team supporting the Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust with comprehensive clinical and non‑clinical imaging services. As a Medical Photography Assistant you will support our Medical Photographers in delivering high‑quality photography, video, ophthalmic imaging, printing and design services across the Trust, including patient care, teaching and research.

Main duties of the job

  • Administrative and Front‑of‑House Support
    • Act as the first point of contact for the department, greeting visitors, patients, and staff professionally and courteously.
    • Answer the door, telephone, and department emails promptly, handling enquiries or directing them appropriately.
    • Manage departmental shared emails, ensuring requests and messages are logged, tracked, and actioned efficiently.
    • Support the day‑to‑day running of the office, maintaining an organized, professional environment.
    • Order and monitor stock, print materials, and consumables for photography and reprographics equipment.
    • Book appointments and maintain accurate administrative records.
  • Reprographics and Design
    • Manage in‑house print production services to support clinical, educational, and promotional materials across the Trust.
    • Produce high‑quality printed materials using Adobe InDesign, Canva and other applications.
    • Operate and maintain large‑format printers, copiers, binders and laminators.
    • Ensure all printed materials follow NHS branding and accessibility standards.
  • Photography
    • Deliver high‑quality non‑clinical photography – staff portraits, PR and event photography, architectural and equipment photography.
    • Manage the staff portrait service, including booking, capture, editing, upload and printing.
    • Assist medical photographers by uploading and archiving patient images to the Electronic Patient Record and FotoStation system.

Education and Qualifications

  • GCSEs including English and Maths (Grade 4/C or above)
  • Photography experience with example portfolio

Desirable Training and Experience

  • Courses or further study demonstrating personal development.
  • Driver’s licence.

Experience

  • Experience working within an office environment and customer service.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).
  • Experience using Adobe Photoshop, Lightroom, InDesign or Canva.
  • Experience with DSLR cameras, lenses and flashguns.
  • Desirable: experience within a healthcare or similar professional setting, photography, design or reprographics environment, photographic studio lighting.
