Job Overview
The Junior Digital Test Engineer plays an essential role within Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust’s Digital Data & Technology (DDaT) team, ensuring the quality, reliability, and functionality of the Trust\’s digital systems and applications. Working with developers, business analysts, and senior testers, the Junior Tester will help deliver robust digital solutions that enhance patient care.
Responsibilities
- Perform manual and automated testing on digital applications and systems to ensure they meet the Trust’s quality and assurance standards.
- Ensure all systems and applications are thoroughly tested for both functionality and performance.
- Develop, execute, and maintain automated test scripts using tools such as Selenium, Protractor, and other industry-standard frameworks.
- Identify, document, and track defects using defect management tools (e.g. JIRA, HP ALM).
- Ensure accurate and prompt resolution of defects in collaboration with developers and stakeholders.
- Conduct regression testing to verify that system updates, bug fixes, and enhancements do not negatively impact existing functionality or introduce new defects.
- Create and maintain comprehensive testing documentation, including test results, defect logs, test summaries, and test execution reports.
- Work closely with business analysts and developers to review system requirements and provide input into test planning, ensuring that all functional and non-functional requirements are tested thoroughly.
- Collaborate with other teams to ensure seamless integration of testing within the development lifecycle.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing the Trust’s testing processes and tools.
- Support colleagues in the QA team by sharing knowledge on testing tools, methodologies, and industry-specific practices.
Qualifications
- Experience in both manual and automated testing across multiple platforms and systems.
- Experience using defect‑tracking tools and collaborating with development teams to resolve issues.
- Strong understanding of testing frameworks and methodologies, including functional, non‑functional, performance, security, and regression testing.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple testing activities simultaneously and meet tight deadlines.
- Strong problem‑solving skills with a keen eye for detail, capable of identifying and reporting defects accurately and efficiently.
- Experience with automated testing tools such as Selenium and Protractor, including the creation and execution of test scripts.
- Experience gained in Acute NHS or a healthcare environment, with knowledge of healthcare‑specific digital systems.
- Familiarity with NHS digital systems and healthcare‑specific testing requirements.
- Experience in Cerner Millennium applications and integration testing is desirable.
