Salary: £38,682 – £54,710 per year, dependent on experience

Job Overview
Critical Care Outreach team at Royal Berkshire Hospital seek a band 6 or 7 nurse with critical care experience for a 9-month secondment starting in April 2026. The role involves working across the trust with multidisciplinary teams to provide care to acutely ill and deteriorating patients. Applicants must have support from their manager and be internally eligible.
Key Responsibilities
- Work alongside CNS/ACP for Outreach to deliver patient-focused programmes of care for acutely ill, deteriorating and critically ill patients.
- Display excellent communication and leadership skills, providing the best care within resources and patient environment.
- Support other practitioners delivering care.
- Ensure effective and appropriate caseload management at all times.
- Contribute to support and professional development of team members and community/ward team members.
- Demonstrate excellent personal communication, establish effective two-way communication with individuals and groups.
- Challenge others when patient rights may be infringed.
- Contribute to the achievement of best standard of nursing care, facilitate care based on best research evidence, patient involvement in decisions, practice according to NMC codes and Trust protocols.
- Be accountable for own practice and delegation of care to junior colleagues, support workers, students, and other staff.
Person Specification – Education
- Registered Nurse (Part 1/12)
- Health‑related degree or working towards it, or evidence of working at that level
- Critical care qualification or equivalent
- Evidence of leadership, management and special development
Person Specification – Experience
- Minimum 3 years post‑qualification experience
- Experience in mentoring, facilitation, teaching, assessment, or coaching
- Minimum 2 years experience in critical care area, with evidence of leadership
