Main duties
We are looking for an experienced nurse with a recent history of SACT administration. You should be skilled in venipuncture and cannulation and proficient in using CVADs. You will have completed an accredited SACT course/UKONS passport or equivalent. The role includes leading services with a patient-centred approach, and working both independently and as part of a team. The service covers units at the Royal Berkshire Hospital, Bracknell Healthspace and West Berkshire Community Hospital, Thatcham. We are open Monday-Friday; 08:30-18:30. Full-time and part-time opportunities can be discussed.
Responsibilities
- Provide integrated clinical leadership to a team of nurses within outpatient SACT to care for patients with cancer to the highest possible standard.
- Deliver patient-focused programmes of care addressing complex and changing health needs of the client group.
- Manage the SACT unit on a day-to-day basis when required, reporting to the SACT unit manager.
- Take responsibility for operational management of staff and resources to provide a safe environment; lead in ward management in the absence of the SACT unit manager.
- Act as an expert in SACT delivery and patient assessment relevant to the patient group.
Qualifications
Essential criteria:
- Registered Adult Nurse (Pt 1/2)
- Completion of UKONS SACT passport or equivalent
Desirable criteria:
- Advanced Communications Course
- Post-graduate cancer qualification
- ILS
Experience (Essential):
- Experience of SACT administration
- Experience of Leadership/Management and Specialty Development
- Post-qualification Oncology/Haematology experience
- Experience of mentoring, facilitating, teaching, assessing and/or coaching
Desirable experience:
- Experience of involvement in successful Change Management
- Experience of working on a SACT outpatient unit
