On behalf of our customer, we are seeking a compassionate, patient, and dependable Personal Assistant to support an 18-year-old young man with autism and a learning disability in Brampton. The role includes assisting with personal care and providing support at mealtimes. The young person has ARFID and specific food intolerances, so a sensitive and understanding approach to eating is essential. You will also offer emotional and behavioural support to help him navigate daily routines and challenges.
Although he is verbal, he experiences selective mutism and uses limited Makaton, so a calm, reassuring, and adaptable communication style is important. Responsibilities will also include administering medication and supporting him to engage in activities he enjoys, such as trips to the trampoline park, the funfair, and rock climbing, in addition to exploring his interests in trains, hospitals, ambulances, and paramedics.
Applicants must be reliable, hold a full UK driving licence, and be confident driving. You should be active, enthusiastic, and willing to take part in the young person’s activities and interests. This is a highly rewarding role where you can make a meaningful difference by supporting a young person to build confidence, independence, and wellbeing within a safe and supportive environment.
