We work with businesses and individuals to make sure packages and goods arrive safely and on time. Our teams operate across urban and regional areas, and we pride ourselves on friendly, professional service.
Role Purpose
The Logistics Operations Manager is responsible for the day-to-day running of our transport and delivery operations. You will lead a team of drivers and coordinators, plan routes and schedules, and make sure packages reach customers on time. You will also support your team, solve problems, and look for ways to make things work better.
Key Responsibilities
- Operations Oversight: Manage the daily running of transport and delivery operations across UDELIVER’s network. Make sure all work is done safely, legally, and to a high standard. Keep track of vehicles and equipment, and make sure they are well maintained. Work with colleagues and customers to fix problems quickly and keep services running smoothly.
- Route Planning: Plan and improve delivery routes to save time, reduce costs, and make sure customers receive their packages when expected. Adjust routes when needed, for example due to road closures, high demand, or changes in the schedule. Make sure all routes follow road rules and legal requirements.
- Staff & Driver Oversight: Lead and support a team of drivers and delivery staff, helping them do their best work. Hold regular check-ins and reviews with team members and deal with any issues fairly and professionally. Make sure all drivers hold a valid licence and complete any required training. Help with hiring new staff and make sure all new starters have the right to work in the UK.
- Scheduling: Create weekly and monthly rotas to make sure the right number of staff and vehicles are available at the right times. Manage working hours and rest breaks in line with UK employment rules. Work with other teams to make sure deliveries go out at the right time. Find solutions quickly when staff are absent or vehicles are unavailable.
- Performance Management: Track and report on how well the team and operations are performing. Produce clear, simple reports for management with suggestions for improvement. Investigate when things go wrong and put steps in place to stop it happening again. Encourage the team to keep improving and share good ideas.
- Logistics Coordination: Coordinate the movement and delivery of packages across our network, making sure everything goes out on time and in the right order. Manage relationships with delivery partners and third-party contractors. Complete admin tasks related to the role, such as keeping records up to date and making sure deliveries are properly logged. Work with other teams to make sure the right packages are in the right place at the right time.
