Based at Cannington College, the Student Experience Officer will lead the development and delivery of student‑led clubs and societies, working closely with the Students’ Union to ensure all learners across UCS College Group have equitable access to enriching opportunities that promote personal growth, leadership, and community engagement.

The role includes coordinating college Student Experience opportunities and EDI initiatives, supervising the Students’ Union space to promote a safe and inclusive environment, and providing tailored wellbeing mentoring to support individual student needs. This role will also co‑ordinate and monitor the wellbeing of the College’s residential learners with a specific focus on the under‑18 provision.

A key element of the role will be to provide support to all students in residential accommodation and work with students to mentor, self‑assess, agree targets and review progress. The role will also plan and deliver a diverse range of enrichment activities that add value to the residential experience collaborating with the students to develop their social and leadership skills and prepare them for independent living.

Working pattern: 4 working days, 4 rest days. The shift will begin at 09:00 and finish at 20:40 with one hour lunch.

The Student Experience Team at Cannington interviews and allocates residential places to students. They provide 24/7 support for residential students with issues ranging from accommodation queries to student wellbeing, entertainment and enrichment. The team’s primary responsibility is the safeguarding of residential students. The residential provision was inspected by Ofsted under the Further Education Residential Accommodation: National Minimum Standards in October 2022 and awarded Outstanding overall.
