UCS College Group ("UCS") operates an Ofsted graded Outstanding provision for NEET and SEMH learners at Cannington College, within a dedicated and bespoke site known as Crockers. This specialised provision offers tailored and supported pathways for complex and vulnerable learners, enabling them to engage in education in a setting that meets their individual needs. The impact of this provision is both transformational for learners and highly beneficial to reducing risk and increasing positive contributions within the local community.
The provision at Crockers uses a highly practical and engaging curriculum to educate and re‑engage learners who may have experienced multiple exclusions, poor attendance, learning within an alternative provision, in the care of the local authority or who have been out of formal education for a significant period of time. This is an exciting time to join a highly skilled and experienced team with an unprecedented track record of Ofsted Outstanding judgements.
You will course lead a curriculum and work closely and consistently with students to re‑engage them in education through a practical, nurturing and relational approach while supporting them to reduce risk‑related behaviours. The post-holder will be motivated and enthusiastic and a strong team player who strives to deliver the best possible outcomes for our learners with barriers to learning and/or Social, Emotional and Mental Health difficulties (SEMH).
They will co‑ordinate highly effective Teaching, Learning and Assessment on their allocated courses and specialist area. The role will involve maximising learners’ potential to make positive progress towards their Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) outcomes, English and maths Functional Skills, aspirations and ultimately support sustainable destinations. This will involve leading a successful team of staff to contribute to the college’s expectations of quality, supporting staff to build personalised programmes for individual learners on your courses and develop the curriculum in partnership with the staff team and Head of SEMH & DSL.
The ideal candidate will have experience with working with learners with SEMH, English and maths delivery and have a specialist area of expertise that will benefit the department. They will promote inclusive practice and deliver high quality and develop individualised teaching, learning and assessment approaches.
