How to prepare for a job interview at UCM Education

✨Know Your SEN Stuff

Make sure you brush up on your knowledge of special educational needs, particularly SEMH. Be ready to discuss specific strategies you've used in the classroom to support pupils with these needs. This shows that you’re not just familiar with the theory but have practical experience too.

✨Prepare for Scenario Questions

Expect questions that ask how you would handle specific situations in the classroom. Think about past experiences where you successfully supported a pupil with SEMH or managed exam access arrangements. Use the STAR method (Situation, Task, Action, Result) to structure your answers.

✨Show Your Passion for Teaching

Let your enthusiasm for teaching shine through! Talk about what motivates you to work in an SEN environment and how you create a supportive learning atmosphere. This can really resonate with interviewers looking for someone who genuinely cares about their students.

✨Ask Insightful Questions

At the end of the interview, don’t forget to ask questions! Inquire about the school's approach to supporting staff and pupils, or how they handle exam processes. This not only shows your interest but also helps you gauge if the school is the right fit for you.
