UCLH is a designated Trauma Unit (TU) as part of the North East London and Essex Trauma Network (NELETN). We are looking to recruit an experienced nurse to join our Trauma service for the next 18 months, to ensure an efficient, safe high-quality service is delivered to our patients.
This post will be based at UCLH within the Emergency Service division, closely working with our emergency and acute medicine teams, and across Trust boards.
Candidates should have experience in emergency and/or trauma care, demonstrate excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage a patient caseload.
Main duties of the job
In partnership with members of the multi-disciplinary team, the Trauma Nurse Coordinator will develop, implement, and evaluate a trauma pathway, ensuring that patients receive the highest standard of trauma care. They act as a lead trauma nurse specialist and will demonstrate a high level of expertise within the service, providing specialist advice, education, and support to healthcare professionals and patients. The post holder will actively undertake clinical audits and research within the specialist area.
The post holder will be responsible for contributing to the ongoing development of clinical practice, research, and standards of care within the service, including the development of policies, protocols, and guidelines and contribute to service developments in collaboration with multidisciplinary colleagues. The post holder will also ensure the safety and wellbeing of service users and always work in a manner that promotes dignity and improved patient experience.

Education/Qualification/Experience
- Registered Nurse with the NMC
- Significant experience in Emergency care and management of trauma patients
- Specialist trauma education such as: ATNC/ETC, Competent in Advanced Life support
- Mentorship or equivalent
- Evidence of continuing professional development
- Leadership course/training
Aptitude, abilities and characteristics
- Strong clinical leadership skills and an effective role model
- High level of clinical acumen
- Able to prioritise
- Able to use own initiative
