Through education, research and enterprise, we are shaping the future of computer science, and finding new ways we can use it to create positive change.

You will join a busy team working closely with other Professional and Academic colleagues to make significant impact to the growth and success of the Department.

The role is responsible for delivering the Department's research financial management and administration. You will facilitate grant and funding administration, and general management and monitoring of current and proposed research projects.

The role requires a high level of accuracy, financial skill and considerable initiative. The role is largely autonomous within the Department Finance team, but you will also work as part of a wider team of Professional Services colleagues, liaising with senior staff (both within and external to UCL) frequently, and collaborating with academic and research staff.

You will have excellent knowledge of research funding processes and regulations within an HE/research environment, and experience of providing administrative assistance in the preparation of research funding applications. You must have proven experience of using online financial systems and the ability to adapt to new systems quickly, as well as demonstrating you can meet tight individual and organisational deadlines and manage your own workload through effective prioritising, time management and organisational skills.

As well as the exciting opportunities this role presents, we also offer some great benefits:

  • 41 days' holiday (27 days annual leave, 8 bank holidays, 6 closure days)
  • Option to purchase 5 additional days' annual leave
  • Defined benefit career average revalued earnings pension scheme (CARE)
  • Cycle to work scheme, season ticket loan, and immigration loan
  • Relocation support for eligible posts
  • On-site nursery and gym
  • Enhanced maternity, paternity, and adoption pay
  • Staff Support Service (employee assistance programme)
  • Discounted medical insurance

We continuously work toward embodying these principles within our policies, practice, and environment.

The Department has been committed to work in ensuring that both students and staff feel supported in their study and career progression, and that the working environment is inclusive, family friendly, fair, and allows all to feel supported and welcomed. We particularly encourage applications from candidates underrepresented in UCL's workforce, including those from Black, Asian and ethnic minority backgrounds, disabled people, and - for Grade 9 and 10 roles - women.
