Research Assistant / Research Fellow in Machine Intelligence (UCL)

The project will be carried out at the Department of Computer Science, in the Machine Intelligence Lab headed by Professor Mirco Musolesi. The lab is part of the UCL AI Centre and the Intelligent Systems group. The candidate will carry out world‑class research in artificial intelligence with a focus on reinforcement learning, generative learning (e.g., foundational models) applied to multi‑agent systems and/or human‑AI interaction.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct cutting‑edge research in reinforcement learning and generative learning.
  • Develop and apply methods for multi‑agent systems and human‑AI interaction.
  • Publish findings in leading conferences and journals.
  • Collaborate with the Machine Intelligence Lab and the broader UCL AI community.

Qualifications

  • PhD in Computer Science or a closely related field (or close to completion, having submitted the dissertation) for a Grade7 appointment; a Master or Undergraduate degree for a Grade6B appointment.
  • Strong experience in artificial intelligence and its applications, demonstrated through publications.
  • Experience or a demonstrated strong interest in reinforcement learning and generative learning is considered a plus.
  • Experience with human‑AI interaction (broadly intended) may also be beneficial.
