We are seeking an experienced, proactive and driven Health & Safety practitioner to join and lead the CEGE team as Health & Safety and Facilities Manager. The successful candidate will lead a small team in delivering high standards of H&S compliance and facilities management. They will support academics, researchers, managers, staff, students, and others to understand and fulfil their health and safety responsibilities, while also reporting on and managing health and safety on behalf of the Head of Department.
The postholder will lead the facilities team, managing the effective delivery of planned preventive maintenance, reactive maintenance and infrastructure projects. The Health & Safety and Facilities Manager is required to manage, coordinate, and contribute to the following areas across CEGE's Bloomsbury, HereEast, Pearl and Cave facilities:
- Leadership and strategic planning in Health & Safety management
- Day-to-day management and implementation of Health & Safety across sites
- Business Response and Continuity Planning
- Oversight and line management of the facilities team
This role is eligible for hybrid working with a minimum of 80% on-site.
Key requirements of the role are:
- NEBOSH (preferable) or ISOH qualification in Health and Safety management
- Proven extensive experience and knowledge in leading and delivering Health & Safety Management, particularly in high-hazard laboratories and workshop environments engaged in experimentation and testing.
- Ability to advise authoritatively on health and safety matters and, when needed, take appropriate actions.
- Proven experience in line managing, leading, developing and supporting a team engaged in H&S and facilities activities.
