UCL's Department of Computer Science (CS) is a top-ranked Computer Science Department in the UK. In the 2021 Research Excellence Framework (REF) evaluation, UCL Computer Science was ranked second in the UK for research power and first in England.
We are seeking a Research IT Engineer responsible for all areas of supporting the researchers in the usage of the department's HPC cluster. They will be working with other members of the Research Computing Support team based in the Department of Computer Science at UCL to support, design and implement a highly effective research computing platform.
The successful candidate will have a relevant degree or significant practical experience in Linux system's administration and/or experience working with a research computing facility. They will have an ability to communicate clearly at all levels, as well as a customer focussed approach to work and the ability to assist the researchers in running their pipelines on the HPC.

Main purpose of the job: Provide researchers with assistance with day to day usage of the High Performance Computing cluster including but not limited to software installation, coding, debugging, data management and movement and pipelines. Provide regular training sessions to the Centre researchers at all partner sites. Contribute to Departmental, Faculty, or UCL-wide working groups or committees as requested. Maintain your own continuing professional development.
