About the role

In the job of Contract and Technical Services Manager - Student Accommodation, you will provide strategic and operational leadership for the management of service partner contracts across the student accommodation estate. You'll ensure the delivery of safe, compliant, reliable, and sustainable building services that support an outstanding student residential experience while protecting and enhancing the long-term value of the University's estate assets.

You will lead the commercial and operational management of service partners responsible for specialist building services, ensuring the effective delivery of planned and reactive maintenance, statutory compliance, and lifecycle infrastructure improvement programmes. Through robust contract governance, performance management, and financial oversight, you'll ensure services are delivered in line with agreed contractual standards, budgetary controls, and the University's operational objectives.

You will also provide leadership to internal teams and external partners, fostering a collaborative culture focused on service excellence, continuous improvement, and effective risk management. You will ensure that contract performance, operational delivery, and financial performance are effectively monitored, reported, and continuously improved to support both the student experience and the strategic objectives of the accommodation portfolio.

About you

Things you'll need in order to do this job include:

  • Extensive experience managing engineering maintenance services within a complex property portfolio
  • Experience of managing a small but specialist team across multiple buildings
  • Experience of working with a CAFM system, demonstrating ability to review and extract data showing key trends
  • Strong understanding of building services systems and statutory compliance requirements
  • Experience of Managing Tier One and Tier Two Services Partners and outsourced service delivery arrangements
  • Experience working within and across large, multi-site organisations
