UCL is one of the world's leading universities, home to a diverse and growing community of students, staff, and partners. Our estate spans more than 230 buildings across London and is evolving rapidly, including the development of our new UCL East campus on the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. As we expand, we are committed to creating environments that are accessible, inclusive, healthy, and welcoming to all. Improving the accessibility of our estate is a central priority, and we are investing in the expertise and innovation needed to ensure our spaces reflect the values of openness, equity, and excellence that define UCL.

About the role

As an Access & Inclusive Design Specialist, you will play a key role in shaping an inclusive campus by providing expert client‑side advice across UCL's estate projects and facilities services. Working within the Sustainability Team and supporting the Head of Inclusive Environments, you will help embed inclusive design principles into project processes, undertake access audits, and guide teams in addressing accessibility challenges across a complex and historic estate. Your work will directly contribute to UCL's long‑term Inclusive Environments Action Plan, ensuring our buildings, spaces, and operations support healthy, productive, and equitable experiences for all who use them.

About you

You are an experienced and knowledgeable inclusive design professional who brings both technical expertise and a passion for creating environments that work for everyone. You understand the complexities of accessibility across a varied estate and can confidently apply current and emerging inclusive design standards to new builds, refurbishments, heritage buildings, and public realm projects. You thrive in collaborative settings, working effectively with a wide range of stakeholders, and you bring creativity, initiative, and strong communication skills to every challenge. Above all, you are motivated by the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the lived experience of UCL's diverse community.
