About the role
The postholder will lead the design and implementation of IP cores in Xilinx FPGAs and optical switching devices to support future optical time division multiplexed networks. Responsibilities include creating high-frequency logic blocks in SystemVerilog, HLS, or similar languages, simulating with testbenches, and validating performance. The role involves using metaheuristics and ML for system calibration and optimization.
The position is available until 31st July, with potential further funding. The salary is Grade 6B, point 25-28 (£39,000 to £41,000 per annum, including a £5,000 London Allowance).
About you
The ideal candidate will have a first or upper second-class undergraduate degree in a relevant field, with knowledge of FPGA programming, ASIC design, and switching architectures. Experience with optical systems, hands-on research, and programming in SystemVerilog, RTL languages, or HLS C/C++ is required. Experience with FPGA implementation of protocols like Ethernet, Aurora, PCI-e supporting high data rates is desirable.
