This post is based in the Population, Policy and Practice research programme at the UCL GOS Institute of Child Health (ICH), in the infections and surveillance group. The mission of the UCL ICH is to: “improve the health and well-being of children, and the adults they will become, through world-class research, education and public engagement”. The infections and surveillance group is part of the Population, Policy and Practice Research and Teaching Department, one of five departments within the UCL GOSICH.

This part-time Surveillance Administrator post will take responsibility for supporting the hepatitis B maternity and paediatric data collection from NHS clinical respondents in paediatric units across England for the Integrated Screening Outcomes Surveillance Service (ISOSS). The post-holder will liaise with NHS clinicians on a daily basis mainly by phone and email, and must have a professional, confident and friendly telephone manner. The post holder will work closely with the other members of the team who conduct paediatric and maternity surveillance across infections, and will support the team in relevant administrative duties.

Applicants must have a minimum of 5 GCSEs at Grade C or above (including Mathematics and English Language) or equivalent, with experience in an administrative or clerical role. Applicants must have excellent written and verbal communication skills, and be organised, accurate and attentive to detail. They will have the ability to work independently and as part of a team and ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a range of stakeholders (medical, scientific and administrative roles).
